Une cinquantaine de circuits originaux, répartis dans tout le vignoble.

Jalonnés de panneaux d’information, ils permettent de comprendre le travail du vigneron, l’art du Vin d’Alsace, les terroirs, les cépages…. Chacun d’une manière différente, ce qui offre de nombreuses possibilités de balades. 

Ils sont complétés par une dizaine d’itinéraires intercommunaux de découverte qui proposent une expérience ludique de découverte du patrimoine, des paysages et des vignobles de la Route des Vins d’Alsace.

Tracée en parallèle de la Route des Vins d’Alsace, la Véloroute du vignoble relie Marlenheim à Thann.

“ Envie de pedaler ”

En empruntant d’anciennes voies ferrées, des portions de la route romaine et des sentiers viticoles, le Véloroute permet d’apprécier sereinement et en famille les paysages spectaculaires qui bordent la Route des Vins. 

Avançant à votre rythme, vous aurez tout le loisir de vous arrêter dans les nombreuses étapes culturelles, touristiques, gastronomiques et viticoles. Pour pédaler en toute tranquillité, de nombreux loueurs et réparateurs de vélo sont présents sur le parcours. Le réseau « Movelo » vous permet de bénéficier de vélos à assistance électrique et le transport de vos bagages peut s’organiser facilement.

Vous croiserez certainement des « grands voyageurs » qui, parcourant l’EuroVelo5 « Via Roma Francigena », pédalent un moment sur le tracé de la Véloroute du vignoble. 

L'Alsace est en effet la seule région française traversée par trois EuroVelo, le réseau d'itinéraires cyclables européen : l’EuroVelo 5 « Via Romea Francigena », l’EuroVelo 15 « Véloroute Rhin court » et l’EuroVelo 6 « Atlantik-Black Sea ». 

Au total notre Région est jalonnée par près de 2 500 kilomètres de pistes cyclables!

“ Expérimenter les vendanges ”

Vendanges touristiques

Vivez l’expérience des vendanges en participant, sécateur à la main, à une journée mémorable. Devenez « vendangeur d’un jour ». 

Au programme, accueil dans un domaine et remise du « set du vendangeur ». Puis présentation des techniques de vendange et départ vers une parcelle de vignes pour 1 à 2h.

Enfin retour au domaine, pour une présentation de la transformation du raisin en vin suivie d’une dégustation avec repas des vendangeurs. À la fin de cette demi-journée intense, vous recevrez votre diplôme bien mérité du « Vendangeur d’un jour ».

Les découvertes insolites

Découvrez des lieux insolites, au fil de promenades dans le vignoble. Muni d’un GPS, partez à la recherche de « géocaches » dissimulées dans des endroits insolites. Participez à des balades ludiques, à des jeux de piste, aux Chasses au trésor de Noël… Certaines sont même animées par des vignerons.

Testez votre équilibre en gyropode, retrouver votre âme d’enfant en montant dans un petit train. Prenez de la hauteur en montgolfière et en ULM. 

Ressourcez-vous en pratiquant du Qi Gong dans les vignes et relaxez-vous dans un des nombreux spa. Rendez-vous dans les offices de tourisme de la Route des Vins qui vous proposeront de nombreuses idées originales de découverte du vignoble en famille.

Les cross et marches gourmandes

Chaussez vos baskets : de nombreuses courses à pied sont organisées dans le vignoble toute l’année. Le Marathon du Vignoble de Molsheim, qui entraîne les coureurs à travers 17 villages viticoles en proposant des dégustations de vins et de spécialités. 

Mais aussi le Bike and Run du Riesling à Scherwiller, le Circuit des Grands Crus de Rouffach, Les Perles du vignoble de Beblenheim, le Circuit de l’Ortenbourg à Scherwiller, les O’nze kms d’Obernai, la Course des Châteaux d’Ottrott…

Vous préférez enfiler vos chaussures de randonnée ? Les marches gourmandes de Scherwiller, Sigolsheim, Beblenheim, Westhalten, Nothalten, Guebwiller, Dambach, Albé, Thann, Barr… vous attendent de mai à septembre. 

Une occasion unique de rencontrer les vignerons qui présentent leurs vins et organisent des visites guidées de leur vignoble…

Déguster les Vins d'Alsace et connaître le vignoble

Chez les vignerons

Tous les vignerons auront à cœur de vous faire découvrir leur métier et leurs vins. Ils vous raconteront leur passion de la vigne et leur travail quotidien. Certaines entreprises ont mis en place des Écoles des Vins, des dégustations commentées, des ateliers d’accords mets-vins ou encore des repas thématiques, souvent en lien avec la gastronomie locale.

Elles proposent quelquefois un espace muséographique sur les outils du vigneron, les terroirs, l’histoire du domaine… N’hésitez pas à franchir leurs portes.

Les musées

Les multiples facettes de la vie et du travail du vigneron alsacien au cours des siècles sont aussi présentées dans plusieurs musées alsaciens : le Musée du vignoble de Kientzheim, la Seigneurie d’Andlau, le Musée Alsacien de Strasbourg, l’Écomusée d’Alsace, la Porte Sud de Thann, les Musées du Vigneron de Mittelbergheim et Wuenheim…

A little bit of history

What would Alsace be without its Wine Route? When wandering along it you’ll enter into a fascinating, lively and yet secret world, a living legacy of an ancestral culture which is today wholly turned towards the future...

This Route is about walking through vineyards, roaming along paths, exploring villages, and admiring the endless architecture of the roofs, the entrances, stone-sculpted signs and be continuously amazed at the incredible straightness of the vines, entering wine cellars and tasting.

Known throughout the world, it crosses this wine-growing area over 170 km since 1953, its inauguration date. It’s one of the oldest wine routes in France.

From the south of Thann to the north of Marlenheim and not forgetting the Wissembourg sector to the extreme north of Alsace visitors can marvel at the endless landscapes and exceptional heritage: impeccably straight rows of vines, fortified villages, half-timbered houses, Romanesque and Gothic churches, medieval castles …  

But also the traditional winstubs (wine bars), gourmet restaurants and remarkably-refined crafts.  At each detour along this charming route you’ll discover an Alsace which loves its traditions and wines.

The marvellous, grand, serene and often-times lively sites along the route unfold another dimension to understanding the Vins d’Alsace and its impassioned producers. To meet these impassioned people why not enter into the wineries and wine-tasting cellar which appear along the road. Most of them are open all year around! And whether they are Alsace producers, independent wine-makers, traders or cooperative wine-growers, you’re guaranteed to have a warm welcome.

The Alsace Wine Route is also a popular gathering place. From April to October the villages successively organise wine and harvest festivals. 
Traditional entertainment, parades and wine-tasting follow on from each all day and even sometimes all night in a cheerful and hospitable ambiance! And all throughout the year you can participate in numerous wine and vineyard events and activities such as the harvest, Brotherhood chapters, cooking classes, wine-tastings …

Five regions with very distinct identities

The Alsace Wine Route crosses five regions all boasting very specific landscapes, villages and wines.

To the extreme north of Alsace, the region of Wissembourg and Cleebourg are the essence of rural Alsace. It’s here, in the Outre-Forêt that you’ll discover some markedly preserved Alsace traditions: half-timbered houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, costumes, folklore and dialects which are still commonly spoken.  
Its wine-growing area is the furthest north on the Alsace Wine Route.  
It extends over the towns of Cleebourg, Rott, Oberhoffen, Steinseltz, Riedseltz and Wissembourg. The wine-makers are grouped together in the Cleebourg Wine-making Cooperative which manages about 189 hectares of vineyards.

Numerous paths and bicycle paths allow you to wander around and discover its natural beauty: picturesque cities and villages like Wissembourg, Hunsbach and Seebach, medieval castles, remains from the Second World War (Maginot Line), arts and crafts (pottery from Betschdorf and Soufflenheim). Without forgetting a detour in the North Vosges Regional Park, a World Biosphere Reserve.

The Strasbourg wine-growing region

The Strasbourg wine-growing region

Just a few kilometres from Strasbourg, European capital with a city-centre listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, can be found the vineyards of Kochersberg, the Couronne D’or and Molsheim. 
Easily accessible by car or even by bicycle along the Véloroute (bicycle road) of the Bruche Canal which connects Strasbourg to Soultz-les-Bains and to the Véloroute of the Alsace wine-growing area. Like the Alsace Wine Route, the Véloroute starts in Marlenheim, in the heart of the Couronne d’Or where the vineyards sit amongst cereal fields and fruit trees. 

By walking along the wine-maker paths (Bergbieten, Dahlenheim, Marlenheim Wangen, Traenheim…) or when climbing up the infamous Scharrach hill, you can admire a panorama over the Vosges, the Alsace plain and the Strasbourg cathedral. And thanks to themed trails like the Bacchus track, discover significant architectural, religious and cultural heritage: Dompeter church in Avolsheim, Carthusian Monastery of Molsheim, Mutzig Fort …

The Vineyards Destination and Discoveries in the Heart of Alsace

From Rosenwiller to Orschwiller, between the Mont Sainte-Odile and the castle of Haut-Kœnigsbourg, you’ll find the destination Heart of Alsace which boasts a mosaic of landscapes delicately blending the vineyards and forests and overlooked by imposing ruins of medieval castles.

On foot or by mountain bike, brave the Landsberg, Spesbourg, Haut-Andlau or the Bernstein … or for a lesser challenge, set-off into the vineyards along the designated paths like the Mittelbergheim which will initiate you to drawing techniques.  You are more a fan of museums or architecture? 

Visit the Seigneury of Andlau, the Museum of Folie Marco, the Mittelbergheim wine-maker museum, the Haut-Koenigsbourg, the Abbey of Andlau… Wander along the small medieval village streets and admire the beauty of wine-maker homes. And for children don’t forget the Volerie des Aigles (eagle animal park) and the Montagne des Singes in Kintzheim (park with Barbary apes).

The Vineyard Destination and Landscape Discoveries in the Colmar region

 Landscapes and Wines in the Colmar region from Saint-Hippolyte to Westhalten is a unique destination combining varied landscapes of plains, the Vosges mountains and vineyards.  Take the time to discover the famous medieval cities of Bergheim, Ribeauvillé, Zellenberg, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg, Eguisheim… Each city and village is full of oddities such as the corkscrew bell-tower of Niedermorschwihr, the fortified church of Hunawihr and its centre for re-introducing storks into nature, the Castle of the Confrérie Saint-Etienne of Alsace which is also home to the Vineyard Museum (Kientzheim)…

Don’t forget to stop in Colmar, a city full of art and history and the capital of the Alsace wine-growing area. Here you can visit the Unterliden Museum, reputed worldwide for having the Isenheim altar-piece, you can count the head-masks on the Maison des Têtes, admire the paintings on the Pfister House … And finally stroll towards the three castles of Husseren-Les-Châteaux, or the one of Ribeauvillé. They both propose breath-taking views over the vineyards and its natural resources, protected by the foothills of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park.

The Wine Route in southern Alsace

The Wine Route in southern Alsace

Between Soultzmatt and Thann, the wine-growing area becomes a little steeper. The vines are assembled together on the sharp slopes and farmed on terraces in Guebwiller and Thann. Furthermore they often require harvesters to rope themselves to each other.

Cities and villages offer many possibilities of discoveries and tours: the collegiate Saint-Thiébaut and Engelbourg Castle, the ancient fortifications of Cernay, the Dominican Convent in Guebwiller (city of art and history), the Abbey of Murbach, the Espace des Sources (water museum) in Soultzmatt…

The museums on the South entrance of the Alsace Wine Route (Thann) and the wine-maker entrance in Wuenheim will help you better understand the geological diversity of the Alsace wine-growing area terroirs and the vine-related work.
